Taxi is a suitable means of transport for Zanzibar tourist. Many hotels will organize for one on behalf of their clienteles.
"Dalla-dalla" is miniature min-vans used as public means of transport about the island. Hiring a private car is also another idea especially if want comfort though its costly.
Ferries and catamarans travel at often from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar and back. Private boats are also on hire hence you have time to tour around the island.
Festivals and events
Mwaka kwogwa-The celebration goes for four days. The celebration is of the Shirazi New Year where a huts a burnt down and mock fights. It is held yearly in the third week of July.
Film and art festival. Zanzibar holds one of East Africans biggest celebration of talent, highlighting a wide range of African and global creative works.
Annually in July is Zanzibar’s cultural Festival. The festival is marked with rich cultural traditions and legacy of way of life. Traditional song, dances, “taarab” , art and craft add flavor to the festival. It takes place in different parts of the town.
