Konark -The sun temple
The piece of history built in 13th C blow off minds. It began as a huge solar chariot of twelve dozens of prettily adorned wheels dragged by seven rearing horses. The sanctum, almost standing on the beach of Konark, shows imagery of the Sun god in three projections considered as miniature shrines. Both the sanctum and the jagamohana are on a podium decorated with expensive knick –knacks and carvings of extreme erotic kind.
Visiting the Konark Sun Temple is possible throughout the year. It is open all weekday’s morning to evening, entry is Rs.5/- per head for ages over 12years.Fridays are free entries. October to March is the best time to pay a visit.
During summer, Konark is extremely hot, temperatures get as high as 43ºC whilst in winter they drop to 11ºC
For religion visit, February to March is a good time to visit .Many people take the holy immerse in the confluence on the Magha Saptami day yearly.

Getting to Konark and within should be a fun. There are numerous means around, all convenient and finding your choices hastle free. Air transport links Konark to Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Nagpur, and Hyderabad and operates many express flights.
Railway stations are position in the twin cities of Puri and Bhubaneswar hence linked to the major stopovers in India via train.

A suitable means within the city is through rickshaws and taxis. Others are public governmental buses, though their conditions are poor. Taxis are costly, Rs300 to Rs 600 for one trip from Puri to Konark. There are a number of private coaches operating within the cities.
Something could go while in konark. Be warned. Over the years, torrential rains have threatened the monument leaving disappointed visitors. To avoid embarrassment just dress well, no tight or revealing clothes and if you cover yourself too much, the stares and eve-teasing questions will still annoy.
The temperatures vary and rainfall between the south and north, so sometime it is so cold, very hot dry and the extent of droughts. As a tourist, start by eating simple Indian foods then the more complicated ones. Anytime is Ok. To pack your bags to the greatest monument of all times.
