Haridwar - The Godly City
Haridwar comes from
collation of two words, ie- Hari
refers to God and Dwar refers to
gate. So, Haridwar stands to be a gate towards the God.
Haridwar is situated in state of Uttarakhand, at an
altitude of 314m from the sea level and spread around in 2400 square kilometres.
As the name depicts, this place is famous for the pilgrims. The best time to
visit this holy place is October to March. When a traveller witnesses a visit
to Haridwar, he or she can get a true flavour of India’s rich culture and
civilization. Since ancient times, Haridwar is also known by other names such as
Mayapuri, Kapilsthan etc.

nearby holy places named as Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath or Badrinath. All the
